IT’S THE $100 MILLION SEASON OF ‘WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE’
“Millionaire” is one of the richest and longest-running game shows in television history, and this season the show will have given away more than $100 million in total winnings since its syndicated debut. “Millionaire” will celebrate this remarkable milestone all season long with celebrity contestants, special appearances and viewer giveaways. In addition, a $100 million commemorative show is slated to air in November, in which a favorite past contestant gets a second shot at winning $1 million.
Hosted by Chris Harrison, “Millionaire” features contestants from all over the country and from all walks of life. In the show’s classic format, contestants must answer 14 trivia questions correctly with the aid of three lifelines – Ask the Audience, Plus One and 50/50 – to win $1 million. Contestants also can win big as they navigate their way up the ladder, as the tension and difficulty build with each question, along with the prize money.
Throughout the 2018-19 season, “Millionaire” will debut new specialty weeks, including Shark Tank Week (featuring “Shark Tank” judges Robert Herjavec, Lori Greiner, Rohan Oza and Matt Higgins) and Celebrity Judge Week (highlighting favorites from daytime court shows such as Judge Lynn Toler, Judge Marilyn Milian and Judges Dana and Keith Cutler). Plus, fans at home will get more chances to win amazing prizes coming this season!
Since its syndication debut in 2002, “Millionaire” continues to entertain millions of viewers across the country. The 2017-18 season was “Millionaire’s” most viewed season in three years and the show is among only five out of the 35 nationally returning syndicated first-run strips to have increased their total viewership this year versus last.
Congratulations to Chris Harrison on his nomination for Outstanding Game Show Host and the Who Wants To Be A Millionaire team on its Daytime Emmy® nomination for Outstanding Game Show.
